Verna Kulm
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Verna Kulm on October 23, 2024, at the age of 94.
Verna was born on June 17, 1930, in Hosmer, SD, to Julius and Lydia (Meyer) Eisenbeis.
Verna graduated from Hosmer High School in 1948. Afterward, she attended Fargo Business College and worked at McPherson County’s Soil Conservation Office.
On April 30, 1950, during a spring blizzard, Verna married her high school sweetheart, Allen R. Kulm, in Hosmer, SD. They began their life together in Leola, where their union was blessed with three children: Michael, Kathy, and Shari. In 1966, they moved their family to the Aberdeen area, where they operated Hertz Rent-a-Car, Eisenbeis Mobile Home Court, and Bur-Mars’ Shoes. In 2000, they relocated to Mina Lake.
Verna was a beacon of kindness, patience, and love. A devout member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD, she will be remembered for her passion for music, gardening, and playing games. Her immense love for her family and unwavering dedication as a caregiver will continue to inspire and guide all who knew her.
Verna is survived by her children: Michael (Kathy) Kulm, Kathy (Dennis) Dosch, and Shari (Spencer) Pribble; her grandchildren: Kristen (Brandon) Rutledge, Zach (Amanda) Dosch, James (Steph) Pribble, Cody (Amanda) Pribble, and Cassandra (Dylan) Jones; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Dave (Marilyn) Kulm; life-long friend, Shirley Eszlinger; and neighbors, Mike, Mindy, Liz, and Leonard.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Milton Eisenbeis; husband, Allen; grandson, Casey Kulm; and friend, Eldora Morrison.
