Vera Rieger

Vera died Monday, September 23, 2024, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab in Aberdeen, SD.

Vera Ann Weston was born on July 27, 1933, to John and Christine (Geertsema) Weston on a farm outside Worthington, MN. She attended country school outside Lake Wilson and in Worthington. Her family moved to Aberdeen in 1948. She started her first job at Lullaby Nursery School.

On October 24, 1954, Vera married the love of her life, Edmond (Eddie) Rieger in Aberdeen. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

Vera’s work included cleaning the North Main, South Main, West Side, and Super City Mall Laundromats; shipping and receiving department at The Main Men’s Clothing Store.

Vera enjoyed crafts and Genealogy (researching on the computer). Vera was a member of the Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ.

Grateful for having shared Vera’s life are her children: Debbie (Van) Nerland, Alan Rieger; grandchildren: Tiffany Dunagan, Bryce (Tina) Nerland; great grandchildren: Tia and Logan Dunagan, Brolin and Cash Nerland; sister Bonda (Bonnie) Hinrichs; brother, Thomas Weston; and many nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie and her parents, John and Christine Weston.
