Sylvia J. Glaesman

Sylvia J. Glaesman, 85, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at Saint Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her daughters.

Sylvia was born May 16, 1937 in Redfield, South Dakota to Harry& Grace (Rasmussen) Cleberg.

She graduated from Athol High School in 1955. She married Elmer R. Nash, Sr. on November 5, 1955, in Athol, South Dakota. To this union five children were born, Penny, Dawn, Elmer Jr., Rose, Violet (Shorty).

Sylvia worked various jobs when her children were young. She started working at 3-M in 1975 and worked there for 25 years.

She married Arvin Glaesman on June 14, 1980, where they resided in Leola, SD. Arvin passed on October 24, 2006. Sylvia then moved to Aberdeen to be closer to her children.

Survivors include daughters Penny (Roger) Barondeau, Dawn (Steve) Monson, Rose (Dan) Keihl, Violet (Randy) Tewksbury. Step children Charlie (Rhona) Glaesman, Susan (Tom) Thorpe, Deb (Tom) Mahlke, Diane (Curtis)Schumacher. Eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, twenty-one step great grandchildren, brother, Harold (Clara)Cleberg, many nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin of 26 years, parents Harry & Grace Cleberg, son Elmer (Pete) Nash Jr. in 1991.
