Norman Scott

Norman W. Scott, 88, of Aberdeen, SD, died Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.
On January 13, 1937, in Pontiac, MI, Norman was born to Norman Walter Scott Sr. and Mary Jane (Barth) Scott. When Norman was 9 months old, a tragedy struck. Norman’s mother was severely injured in a car accident and died from her injuries. The father knew he couldn’t care for the baby, so he contacted Grandmother Barth to ask her if she would take care of her grandson. Mrs. Barth took a train to Pontiac and took Norman to his new home in Aberdeen. Norman grew up thinking his grandmother was his mother.
After getting a job at Aberdeen Country Club at 13 years of age, he developed a love for the game and played almost every day. Norm had graduated from Central High School in 1955. He attended a dance at the local YMCA. He asked the most beautiful girl in the room, Sheri Wudel, to dance. Norman and Sheri were married shortly after he returned from serving 2 years in Korea. While serving in Korea, Norman qualified to play on the Army golf team and went to several tournaments within Korea.
When he returned to the states, he asked Sheri to marry him. The wedding was August 21, 1960. The couple had two sons, Stuart and Greg. The family grew when each of the boys had their own families. It was wonderful to have most of them live in Aberdeen. Norman also dearly loved all of our dogs and cats.
Grateful for having shared Norman’s life are his wife, Sheri; their children, Gregory Scott (Taniel), Stuart Scott; ex-daughter-in-law, Linda Bloom; grandchildren Jesse Scott (Angela), Steven Scott (Keasha George), Abby Gooch (Logan), Matthew Scott, Jillian Scott, Christopher Scott, Sophie Scott, Rachel Scott (Matt Racowschi), Allison Gross, Micheal Gross; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Norman in death are Grandma Barth, Sheri’s parents, Aunt Nora, and infant grandson, Troy Scott.
