Maxine Elaine Browning-Dinger, 79, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, in her home.

Maxine Elaine Neitzel was born August 2, 1943, to Max and Della (Boysen) Neitzel at the Redfield Memorial Hospital. She attended school in Tulare and graduated from High School in 1961. In May, she moved to Aberdeen to attend Stewart School of Hairstyling. She was a hairstylist and cosmetologist for 54 years, retiring in January 2016. Maxine also took some evening classes at Northern State College to further her education.

On June 2, 1963, she married Dale Browning. To this union, three children were born: a daughter, Shannon, and two sons, Darian and Brent.

September 3, 1994, she married Ronald Patrick Dinger. They were blessed with 10 years together before his death in 2004. During that time, they lived in Ellendale, North Dakota, so they could both drive to their perspective jobs halfway.

Maxine was passionate about her profession; she was proud to be a state and local Cosmetology Association President. She was also active on the State Hair Fashion Committee, and PTA President and Room Mother for many years. She also was the Zonta International President and held many other offices locally.

Maxine was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was on the Board of Education for several years. She loved being a mother, often saying it was “the most important role in her life.”

Grateful for having shared Maxine’s life are her children: Shannon (Lyndon) Hohwieler, Darian (Kimberly) Browning, and Brent Browning; three stepdaughters, Dawn (Dana) Frohling, Lynn (Steve) Butler, and Lisa Furany; grandchildren: Christopher (Vanessa) Hohwieler, Ryan (Maria) Hohwieler, Laura (Hunter) Wallace, and Luke Hohwieler, Hunter, Hailey, and Hannah Browning, and Dillon and Mikayla Browning; great-grandchildren: Lilijana Starcevic and Lenora Hohwieler, Cooper Hohwieler, and Wiley Wallace; eight step-grandchildren; and special friends Shari and Larry Scherbenske.

Maxine was preceded in death by her mother and her father; grandparents; husband, Ronald Patrick Dinger; brother, Gary; and sister-in-law, SueAnn.
