Mary S. Rohrich
Mary Susan ‘Susie’ (Schmidt) Rohrich, 80, of Aberdeen, SD, died Friday, June 9, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen with her family by her side.
Mary Susan Schmidt was born on November 13, 1942, in Aberdeen, SD to Leopold ‘Leo’ and Catherine (Feist) Schmidt. She was the eighth of eleven children. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She attended St. Mary’s school through the 8th grade, attended 9th grade at Monroe Junior High and attended Aberdeen Central High School.
She married Leonard Albert Rohrich on October 6, 1962, in Aberdeen. They lived in Aberdeen, Huron, Sioux Falls, and Pierre, SD. They settled in Pipestone, MN. She then moved to Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Mary Susan was employed as a clerk at 7-11 convenience store for many years but retired due to health reasons. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and doing word searches. She loved Thomas Kinkaid memorabilia and collecting bells and angels.
She was so proud of her girls. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She loved her pets.
Blessed for having shared Mary Susan’s life are daughters Brenda Guthmiller of Cleveland, GA and Melinda ‘Mindy’ (Brian)Bellis of Verona, WI; sisters Margaret ‘Marge’ Dutenhoffer, Gertrude ‘Gert’ McBurney, Darlene (Jim) Johnson, and Kathleen (Gary) Johnson, all of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, sisters: Josephine, Angeline, Irene, and brothers: Leo J, Edward, and Frank.
