Marvin Dean Kopecky was born September 7, 1927, to Ernest & Ida (Berreth Brick) Kopecky in Highmore, SD. He grew up in the Westport, SD area and went to school there.

Marvin enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 21, 1948, and was honorably discharged September 30, 1972. He served in Alaska two years, Okinawa one year, Labrador one-year, North Africa three tours, one year and two for three months, England two tours three months each, Thailand one year, Japan three years, and in Korea Vietnam, and Europe. He also served in the United States at the Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, in Tampa, Orlando and Hoemstead, Florida, Limestone Maine, and temporary duty in Fort Worth, Texas. He was in Iceland and many other countries and states.

While in the Air Force, Marvin met and married Victoria L. Kreitel on January 17, 1967, in Webster, SD. After being discharged, he worked for Jewett Drugs in the warehouse in Aberdeen, SD.

Marvin was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Sunrise Lodge #211 (life member) the Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, and member Provost Unit and Wrecking Crew at the Yeldiz Shrine. He was also a life member of the Retired Enlistment Association, the Air Force Sergents Association, life member of the Masonic Veterans Association of SD and the AARP and AAA.

Marvin enjoyed reading, fishing and hunting, and in his younger years yard work.

Grateful for having shared Marvin’s life are his wife, Victoria; his daughter Kasandra Vetch; siblings Darlene Aker Hoon, Sally Elsperger, and Donald ‘Mick’ Brick.

Preceding Marvin in death are his parents Ernest & Ida Kopecky; sister Donna Kopecky; brothers Melvin, Bernie and David Kopecky; stepfather, Ed Brick; stepbrothers Kenneth, Robert and Ronald Brick; and brother-in-law Joe Elsperger.
