Martha M. Zimmerman

Martha M. Zimmerman, 92, of Aberdeen, SD, died Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Bethesda Home in Aberdeen.

Martha M. Scherle was born on March 25, 1930, to Albert and Amila (Heiser) Scherle on the family farm near Artas, SD. She attended country school, and one year of high school in Eureka before moving to Aberdeen, SD.

On September 5, 1948, Martha married Floyd Zimmerman in Aberdeen, SD. She worked for Equity Union Creamery and later Coca-Cola for 27 years.

Martha enjoyed being outdoors. She attended ball games, went camping, and liked snowmobiling. Martha and Floyd enjoyed going on bus trips with friend groups to the casinos in Flandreau and Hankinson. Even at Bethesda Nursing Home, Martha participated in bingo and was a weekly winner. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in her faith and church events. Martha truly loved time with friends, family and especially loved time spent with her grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Martha’s life are her son Kim (Holly); grandchildren, MacKenzie (Gregory) Zens and Kaden Zimmerman; and brother, Edgar Scherle.

Preceding Martha in death are her parents, Albert and Amila Scherle; husband, Floyd Zimmerman; and siblings: Matilda Schuler, Alma Schuler, Edward Scherle, Alvin Scherle, Albert Scherle Jr., Emma Bishop, and Alvina Job.
