Our beloved “Little” Lynda Marko, 78, of Aberdeen, SD left us peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center, surrounded by love.

Born on November 9, 1945, to Charles and LaVersa (Manning) Erickson in Aberdeen, SD, Lynda was the youngest of six siblings. She lived her entire life in the heart of Aberdeen, where she attended Howard Hedger, Monroe Jr High, and graduated from Central High School in 1963.

On August 10, 1963, Lynda married the love of her life, Terry Marko. Together, they created a home full of love and laughter and were blessed with three wonderful children. Lynda devoted her early years to raising her children and later, working at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company before beginning a fulfilling career as a bus driver for the Head Start Program for 34 years. She cherished getting to know each child and their family, leaving a mark on many young hearts.

A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lynda and Terry shared a love of dancing at the Moose Lodge and enjoyed countless evenings on their bowling league. She adored old Western movies, classic country music, and spent joyful nights playing BINGO or cards with her friends and family. Family camping trips to Pickeral Lake were cherished memories for her, and her cooking made family gatherings unforgettable. Holidays were extra special, with Lynda’s warm spirit bringing everyone together, and she loved a good glass of wine on ice. Lynda was also a proud supporter of the Shriners and treasured the companionship of her pets, especially her beloved dog Otto, who rarely left her side.

Lynda is survived by her children, Ken (Rosa) Marko of Dallas, TX, Diane (Brad) Besmer of Colorado Springs, CO, and Erik (Michelle) Marko of Aberdeen, SD, along with her cherished grandchildren, Jamie (Bethany) Benson, Brianna Besmer, Jeremy Besmer (Robin Kutner), Kalyn Marko, Andrew Marko, and Fynn Marko. Her family also includes step-grandchildren Talor (Brady) Chase and Brittany (Brandon) Moffenbier, as well as great-grandchildren Bari Jo, Christopher, and Cody Benson, and step-great-grandchildren Ayden, Avalyn, Avery, Emersyn, and Declan Moffenbier. Lynda’s brother, Dean (Shari) Erickson, nieces, nephews, friends, and, of course, her loyal Otto, will carry her memory in their hearts.

Lynda was welcomed into eternal peace by her beloved Terry, who shared 52 beautiful years with her, along with her parents, Charles and LaVersa Erickson, and siblings Vaughn Erickson, Donnie Erickson, Marilyn Jones, and Karen Currie.

Lynda’s light, love, and laughter have left an imprint on all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the family she adored and the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
