The funeral service for Hilda Lassle, 99, of Aberdeen, SD, died Wednesday, February 22, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen.

Hilda Lassle, daughter of Martha (Brandner) and John Lassle, was born November 1, 1923, on a farm northwest of Bowdle, SD. A few years later she moved to a farm southwest of Bowdle. She was raised in this area and attended the O’ Neil Country School. Following her schooling she worked at neighboring homes doing housework. When she worked for her uncle Fred and aunt Martha in Tolstoy, SD, she lived on the farm in a sod house with a wooden addition, she would tell me that the sod house was warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

In 1956, she had a son Terry born into her loving arms. She began a journey that took her to Britton, SD, Bismarck, ND, and in Houghton, SD, and Murdock, MN, she worked as a live-in nanny for the Berg family.

Her last stop was in Aberdeen, SD, where she lived out her life among family and many friends. While living in Aberdeen she worked as a cook at the Surf Wood Supper Club, Blue Buffalo, Starlite Cafe, Perkins, The Lumber Company, and Hardee’s where she fully retired at age 86. Hilda was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.

Hilda is survived by her son Terry Lassle (Helen) of Sauk Center, MN, grandson Aaron and his dear friend Oksana of Fargo, ND, sister Annie White of Newcastle, WY, and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her dear granddaughter Jayme Lassle of Moorhead, MN, her parents, sisters Bertha Schlafman of Bismarck, ND, Lydia Wolf of Mobridge, SD, Esther Aldinger of Bowdle, two brothers Otto Lassle of Bowdle, and Helmuth Lassle of Greybull, WY.
