Florance Allen

Florance “Flo” Irene Allen, 53, of Frankfort, South Dakota, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, in Newark, New Jersey.

Florance Irene Allen was born in the Bronx of New York City on April 19, 1969, to William Allen and Olivia Louise Roebuck.   Flo and her long-time companion Layne Yaeger moved to Redfield, SD, in the fall of 2020 to escape the life of living in a big city.  They wanted a new life of living in the country. In June of 2022, they purchased a house south of Frankfort.  Flo loved living in the country and enjoyed the yard work and planting and taking care of her flower garden.

She will be remembered for her kindness and outgoing personality, along with being a great cook.  She quickly made friends, and eventually, she began working at Casey’s in Huron, where she was still employed at the time of her death.

Flo is survived by one sister Yolanda Byrd, a niece Kisha Steed and a nephew Eddie Byrd all of New Jersey; her longtime companion Layne Yaeger of Frankfort; along with an uncle, Herman Roebuck.  She is also survived by her aunts: Mary Isom, Janice Norwood, Lavon Allen of Georgia, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents and Edward and Minnie Roebuck.
