Elnor Beckler
Elnor Beckler, 97, of Aberdeen, SD, died Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen, SD.
Elnor May Lindberg was born February 10, 1927, to Carl A. and Emma (Pry) Lindberg in Detroit, MI. At an early age, the family moved to Aberdeen, SD, where Elnor attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High in 1945.
On January 13, 1946, Elnor married Myles ‘Mike’ Beckler at Groton, SD. For the following 52 years, they made their home on the Beckler family farm. They began spending their winters on the Gulf of Mexico in 1981 until 1999. In 1998, Myles and Elnor moved to Aberdeen where they bought a condominium. Myles passed away on January 16, 2003.
Elnor was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Alter Guild, where she served as food chairman for the fall style show for many years. In 1978 Elnor received special mission recognition from members of the United Methodist women. She was a past Sunday School teacher and served on the committee serving funerals for many years. She was a past member of the “B R Neighbor” extension club, being a charter member and officer. Also, Elnor enjoyed her Tuesday morning coffee group and weekly bridge games with her friends.
When Kessler’s of Aberdeen first expanded their grocery store to include a coffee shop, delicatessen and party rooms, known as the “Eagles Room,” Elnor became it’s manager. She is “famous” for the original Kessler’s potato salad recipe. She truly loved the food industry and used her knowledge many times when entertaining family and friends.
Grateful for having shared Elnor’s life are children: Curtis (LaVonne) Beckler, Deborah (James) Wood, and Bonny (Perry) Carlson; grandchildren: Terry (Susan) Beckler, David (Kerry) Beckler, Heidi (Chris) Sylte, Dana (Megan) Beckler, Daniel (Stephanie) Wood, Barry (Paige) Wood, Andrew (Molly) Wood, and Kirsten Allbee; great grandchildren: Myles Keith II (Mary) Beckler, Lindsey Beckler (Stephen Merrick), Mallory Beckler, Katelyn Beckler, Brandon Leidholt, Gregory Leidholt, Josie Sylte, Avery Sylte, Colby Sylte, Marina Beckler, Lawson Beckler, Zachary Wood, Reagan Wood, Parker Wood, Elodie Wood, Palmer Wood, Elliott Wood, Landree Wood, Chet Wood, Chris Allbee, Olivia Bertsch, and Jozie Bertsch; great great grandchild: Amiyah Bertsch; siblings: Charles Lindberg, Elaine Snyder, Carline Kem and Karen (Douglas) Kolb.
Preceding Elnor in death are her parents: Carl & Emma Lindberg; husband, Myles Beckler; son and daughter-in-law: Dennis & Charlotte Beckler; brothers: Carl (Joyce) Lindberg, Elvin (Sylvia) Lindberg, and Bob (Marjorie) Lindberg; brothers-in-law: Richard Snyder and Bob Kem; and sister-in-law: Betty Lindberg.
