Donald Lout
Donald L. Lout, 77, of Aberdeen, SD, died Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center.
Donald L. Lout was born on October 5, 1946, to John and Marie (Forkel) Lout as the youngest of seven children in Hoven, SD. The family lived in Onaka until they moved to Aberdeen in 1956. Donald attended school at Lincoln Elementary, Simmons Middle School, and graduated from Central High School in 1964.
Donald married Ameila “Bunnie” Kerney and together they had one child, Darcie. He worked selling shoes in 1964 and was the assistant manager at Burmars Shoe Store. In December of 1965, he went into the Army where he served in the Vietnam War. He was released in 1967. He worked for Sears for 14 years until the store closed then worked for the City of Aberdeen for 29 years until he retired.
After Ameila’s death in November 1994, Donald reconnected with a childhood friend, Joyce Miller, and shared many happy years together. He also had a wonderful relationship with her children.
Donald was a member of the American Legion and was honored to serve in the Vietnam War. He was an active blood donor and donated 19 gallons of blood. He was very proud knowing he was helping others. Donald was a jokester and had many friends. You would often know when Don was close by hearing his special laugh.
Grateful for having shared Donald’s life are his significant other, Joyce Miller; daughter, Darcie (Mark) Eggers; sons, Dan (Melissa) Miller and David (Kate) Miller; and grandchildren: Andrew ‘AJ’ Miller, Madison (Adam) Ortmeier, Aidan Miller, and Julia Miller; and siblings, Raymond (Idella) Lout and Delores Severson.
Preceding Donald in death are his parents John and Marie Lout; wife; Ameila ‘Bunnie” Kerney; and siblings: Margie Feiock, Marvin Lout, Jerald “Jim” Lout, Derald “Jack” Lout.
