Carla Voeller
Carla Voeller, 63, of Barnard, SD, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at her son’s home in Mina, SD.
Carla Gay Engelhart was born January 2, 1960, to Dale and Sharon (Dennert) Engelhart in Aberdeen, SD. She grew up in the Barnard area and attended elementary school in Barnard. Carla was a cheerleader and homecoming queen at Frederick High School and graduated in 1978. She was married in November 1978 to Jeffery Voeller. The two later divorced but not before having two of Carla's greatest treasures: her sons, Leon and Jared.
Carla worked at 3M until 1990. She worked as a chef at Minerva's and then owned the bar in Andover, SD, for 10 years.
Carla loved flowers and gardening. She liked to travel and especially enjoyed a trip their family took to Niagara Falls. Carla’s greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson. She cared deeply for others, always calling to check in and make sure they had what they needed. She was a fantastic cook, and passed down some of her best kitchen recipes and tricks to her sons.
Grateful for having shared Carla’s life are her children: Leon Voeller and Jared Voeller; grandchildren: Hunter Lee Nilson, Paige Lynn Nilson and Payton Jordan Nilson; great-grandson: Waylon Allen James Nilson; her mother: Sharon Engelhart; her siblings: Steven Engelhart, Callie (Frank) Bunke, Darren (Heidi) Engelhart, and Troy (Karla) Engelhart; and her nieces and nephews: Michael Bunke, Aaron Bunke, Nathan Bunke, Luke Bunke, Zach Engelhart, Jordan Engelhart, Spencer Engelhart, Jazmin Engelhart, Timothy Engelhart, and Collin Engelhart.
Preceding Carla in death are her father, Dale Engelhart, grandma Thelma Dennert and grandpa Stanley Dennert, grandma Lea Engelhart and grandpa Sebastian Engelhart.
