Bonnell L. Aman, 85, of Aberdeen, SD, formerly Eureka, SD, died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen.

Bonnell L. Aman was born May 7, 1939, to Edwin & Arlene (Libis) Aman, in Roscoe, SD. He grew up on a farm southeast of Eureka, SD. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion American Lutheran Church in Eureka. Bonnell attended rural grade school, graduating from Eureka High School in 1958. He attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD, and graduated in 1962.

Bonnell married Annie L. Stern on September 1, 1961, in Eureka, SD. Together, they have two children, Loren and Terry. Bonnell and Annie enjoyed traveling and attending grandchildren’s activities.

Bonnell taught rural school, was a treasurer for an insurance company in Eureka. and worked at Gamble’s in Aberdeen as a salesman. In 1981, he started Software Innovations where he designed software and worked with computers. Bonnell and Annie moved to Aberdeen in 1986 and continued with the business there.

Bonnell was a member of Eureka’s Lions Club, past president of the SD Association of Insurance Companies, served on the Eureka school board for six years, and was the president for three. He was a Sunday school teacher and past Sunday school superintendent. He served on the board and various committees at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and was a member of the Men’s Friday Fellowship. Bonnell enjoyed target shooting and hunting prairie dogs and was a member of the NRA and the Aberdeen Rifle Association. He was a jack of all trades and collected toy tractors. Bonnell was a self-taught accordionist, enjoyed reading, carpentry, and working with computers.

Grateful for having shared Bonnell’s life are his wife of 64 years, Annie Aman; sons: Loren Aman and Terry (Heidi) Aman; grandchildren: Ben (Libby) Aman, Nathan Knutson, Caitlyn Aman, Zachary Aman, Lindsey (Copeland) Cromwell, and Casey Aman; great-grandson Harlan Aman; sister: Pattie (Bob) Werre; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding Bonnell in death are his parents, Edwin & Arlene Aman and his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
